Ranger Rover - Black Edition
For Range Rover's installation at Miami Design Week, we worked closely with the Range Rover team to create an original soundscape inspired by the new Black Edition. Going beyond the visual we used sound to give the installation its own atmosphere and emotional weight, embodying the same qualities as the Black Edition.
Our process began with an exploration of black itself, mapping its full spectrum, from Vantablack, a black so absolute it absorbs virtually all light, through to black as an infinite metaphor: depth, mystery, the unknown. Between those two poles lies an enormous amount of creative territory, and it was that range we wanted the sound to reflect.
There is a boldness and beauty inherent in black that we felt demanded to be honoured rather than understated. To do that, we turned to real orchestration, live swells, rich textures, and layered sounds that could carry genuine physical presence. Nothing synthetic or implied; everything earned.
The result is a sound world that aims to hold two qualities in tension: the commanding and the intricate. Broad enough to feel vast and authoritative, detailed enough to reward closer listening. Much like black itself, it operates on more than one level at once, what you see, or hear, on the surface is only part of the picture.
